Not what I expected

At first valance the bottle is what caught my eye. As soon as I took it out of the packaging I had to taste it. Not what I was expecting, first sip out of the bottle was light honey and tart fruit flavor with what I could only call wet cardboard, there was a harsh spice finish to follow.
I was not happy with my first taste, so I thought I'd let it sit and come back to it.
One month after my first tasting my second was much different.
One month later I came back to it. The nose has a toffy with roasted peanuts and maple hints. The pallate is hit with honeyand dark fruit flavor. The finish the rye kicks in with some spice and cinnamon.
I'm very surprised with this. At first I was upset I spent money on this fancy bottle but once it was opened for a little while I am pleasantly surprised.
